Elyria to visit Midview Football in Week 8
Who: Midview High School (3-4, 0-4 SWC) and Elyria High School (0-7, 0-4 SWC)
What: Week 8 OHSAA Southwestern Conference Varsity Football Game
Where: Ross Field at Adelsberg Stadium (38199 Capel Road, Grafton, OH 44044)
When: Kickoff is Friday (October 10) at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.
Special Events: Midview will welcome its 2025 Middle School Football teams on Friday.
Who Needs a Ticket: Everyone Kindergarten age to 59 years of age must have a ticket in order to enter. Senior Citizens (60+) are admitted free regardless of where they live. In addition, Midview Local School and SWC passes will be accepted at any gate. There is no reentry during the first half of varsity football games.
Adult Tickets: Adult Tickets are $10. Presale Tickets are available for adults only at https://midview.hometownticketing.com/embed/all A credit card reader will also be available at both the Main Gate and the Middle School entrance for walk-up tickets. Cash Sales exclusively at the Main Gate.
Student Tickets: Student Tickets for kids in grades K-12 are $5 and available only at the gate. If paying cash you must use the Main Gate. If using a credit card you can use Middle School entrance or Main Gate.
Specator Notes: No back packs or large bags are allowed in 2025. All kids in attendance will be expected to sit in the stands with their parents or in the assigned student sections. Spectators are prohibited from bringing sporting equipment (footballs, basketballs, etc.) inside Adelsberg Stadium during Varsity Football Games. They will be turned away at the gate. Alcohol and Smoking are also prohibited on the campus of Midview Local Schools.
Specator Note 2: The main gate is now located in the northwest corner next to the new pickleball courts. It will still be marked by the white ticket booth with the blue roof.
Haltime Entertainment: The Elyria Marching Band will perform first, followed by the Midview High School Marching Blue.
Concessions: The Midview Band Boosters will once again sponsor all concessions during Midview Varsity Football home games. They will be open through the end of the third quarter. There will also be a few different food truck options near the Main Gate.
Last Meeting: The Middies ran for 211 yards and 5 TDs en route to a 49-7 victory at Ely Stadium on October 18, 2024. They added another TD through the air and the seventh came via a defensive score for the well-balanced victory. [Recap]
2024 Records: Midview finished 5-6 overall and 2-5 in the Southwestern Conference, while Elyria went 0-10 overall and 0-7 in the SWC.
2024 Playoffs: The Middies lost 31-14 at Padua Franciscan High School in the first round of the OHSAA Division III playoffs. The Pioneers did not make the 16-team OHSAA Division I tournament last season.
Midview's Last Game: Defending OHSAA Division I Champion and host Avon High School showed it ready to challenge the best in the state again by rolling over the Middies 52-0 in week 7. [Recap].
Elyria's Last Game: The Pioneers dropped a 47-16 SWC match-up to visiting Amherst Steele High School last week.
Midview Head Coach: Head Coach Jack Armstrong is 12-17 in his third season leading the Middies. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education Coordinator at his alma mater and had served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the previous seven seasons before taking over. He is the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.
Elyria Head Coach: Head Coach Matt Wilson is in his second season and has compiled a 0-17 record with the Pioneers. He was previously the head coach at both Clearview High School and Berea High School.
Midview Stat Leaders: Senior Marcus McMahon has 156 carries for 838 yards and 14 TDs. He has also caught 11 passes for 110 yards and 1 TD. Senior Shay Williams has completed 80-of-147 passes (54.0%) for 1,078 yards and 6 TDs while also rushing 49 times for 217 yards and 2 TDs. Senior Zachary Wallace has a team-best 29 catches for 513 yards and 3 TDs, while junior Brennen Newton has 22 grabs for 270 yards and 3 TDs. Defensively, senior Brayden Homoki has 105 tackles, senior Braden Armold has 59 tackles and junior Sawyer McMillin has 41 stops hrough seven games. Senior Kaiden Vonya is 18-of-20 in extra-point attempts this season.
Midview Returning Lettermen: Midview returns 19 letterwinners from a year ago, including a trio of two-year lettermen in Brayden Homoki, Leo Swirynsky and Zachary Wallace.
SWC Non-Conference Success: The 8 SWC teams combined to go 14-10 over the first three weeks against non-league opponents. [Standings]
Playoff Outlook: Midview currently sits 13th in Division III Region 10, while Elyria is 18th in Division I Region 1 through week 7 of the season. The top 12 of each region make the playoffs in 2025.
