Midview Football routs Elyria 49-7
Midview Varsity Football earned a 49-7 Southwestern Conference road victory at Elyria High School Friday (October 18) at Ely Stadium.
The Middies ground game produced 211 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. They added another TD through the air and the seventh came via a defensive score for the well-rounded victory.
Junior Marcus McMahon opened the scoring with a 4-yard TD run. Junior Michael Passerrello Jr. followed with an 8-yard TD run. Senior Dior Jones capped the opening quarter with a 16-yard TD run.
The second quarter featured a 7-yard TD run from Passerrello and a 66-yard catch and run from senior Cody Martin to Jones, which resulted in a 35-0 halftime advantage.
Senior Cameron West made the most of his return from injury with a 50-yard scoop and score, and sophomore Jace Wright capped the scoring with a 2-yard TD run in the third quarter.
Senior Ethan Morris was 7-of-7 on extra points and 8-for-8 in touchbacks.
Defensively, junior Brayden Homoki had a team-best 13 total stops and an interception, while junior Gage Baribeau added 8 tackles, including 3 for loss in the win.
The Middies (5-4, 2-4 SWC) look to close out the regular season and improve their playoff standing with a Week 10 win at Olmsted Falls High School. Kickoff is Friday (October 25) at 7 p.m.
