Midview Football welcomes Berea-Midpark for Homecoming match-up in week 6
Who: Midview High School (3-2, 0-2 SWC) and Berea-Midpark High School (1-4, 0-2 SWC)
What: Week 6 OHSAA Southwestern Conference Varsity Football Game
Where: The newly renovated Ross Field at Adelsberg Stadium (38199 Capel Road, Grafton, OH 44044)
When: Kickoff is Friday (September 27) at 7 p.m.
Special Events: Friday is Homecoming at Midview. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony will begin immediately after the coin toss at approximately 6:35 p.m.
Tickets: All Tickets are General Admission and $8. Everyone Kindergarten age to 59 years of age must have a ticket in order to enter. Senior Citizens (60+) are also admitted free regardless of where they live. Presale Tickets are available here: https://midview.hometownticketing.com/embed/all A credit card reader will also be available at both the Main Gate and the Middle School entrance for walk-up tickets. Cash Sales exclusively at the Main Gate. In addition, Midview Local School and Amherst Exempted School employee IDs and SWC passes will be accepted.
Specator Note: All kids in attendance will be expected to sit in the stands with their parents or in the assigned student sections. Spectators are prohibited from bringing sporting equipment (footballs, basketballs, etc.) inside Adelsberg Stadium during Varsity Football Games. They will be turned away at the gate. Alcohol and Smoking are also prohibited on the campus of Midview Local Schools.
Specator Note 2: The main gate has been moved just to the west of the previous one. It will still be marked by the ticket booth.
Haltime Performance: The Berea-MidparkMarching Band will perform first, followed by the Midview High School Marching Blue.
Concessions: The Midview Band Boosters will once again sponsor all concessions during Midview Varsity Football home games. They will be open through the end of the third quarter.
Last Meeting: Berea-Midpark held Midview under 100 total yards in a 37-0 loss in Week 6 of the 2023 season.
2023 Records: Midview finished 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the Southwestern Conference, while Berea-Midpark went 7-5 overall and 5-2 in the SWC. The Middies lost 49-7 at Highland High School in the first round of the OHSAA Division II Playoffs. The Titans opened their playoff run with a 41-26 win over Jackson High School before falling to Cleveland Heights High School 35-0 in round 2 of the OHSAA Division I Playoffs.
Midview's Last Game: The Middies had a 17-3 halftime lead slip away in the final two minutes of a 24-17 loss at Avon Lake High School in week 5. Junior Michael Passerrello Jr. had an 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, while junior Brayden Homoki finished with a team-best 17 total tackles. [Recap].
Berea-Midpark's Last Game: The Titans lost a 60-41 shootout at home against Amherst Steele High School in week 5. .
Midview Head Coach: Head Coach Jack Armstrong is now 7-9 in his second season leading the Middies. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education Coordinator at his alma mater and has served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the previous seven seasons before taking over. He is the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.
Berea-Midpark Head Coach: Head Coach Jon Hudek is 40-50 in his ninth year leading the Titans.
Midview Stat Leaders: Junior quarterback Shay Williams has completed 49-of-88 (55.7%) passes and thrown for 660 yards with 4 TDs and 2 INTs. He also has 65 carries for 212 yards and 2 TDs. Junior Marcus McMahon has 37 carries for 192 yards and 2 TDs, and junior Michael Passerrello Jr. has 38 carries for 179 yards and 1 TD. Senior Dior Jones leads the receving corps with 16 catches for 299 yards and 1 TD, while McMahon has added 9 catches for 64 yards and 1 TD. Both Jones and Passerrello Jr. have a special teams return for a TD this season. Junior Brayden Homoki leads the team with 86 total tackles, while senior Wyatt Lehman has added 47 total tackles on the year. [Complete Stats]
Midview Returning Lettermen: Midview returned 17 letterwinners from a year ago, including All-SWC first team junior running back/defensive back Michael Passerrello Jr.
SWC Non-Conference Success: The 8 SWC teams combined to go 17-7 over the first three weeks against non-league opponents. [Standings]
Playoffs Outlook: Midview currently sits 7th in Division III Region 10, while Berea-Midpark is 13th in Division I Region 1 through week 5 of the season. The top 16 of each region once again make the playoffs in 2024.
