Midview Football visits Elyria Catholic in Week 3

What: Week 3 OHSAA Non-Conference Varsity Football Game

Haltime Performance: The Midview High School Marching Blue will perform first, followed by the Elyria Catholic band.

Last Meeting: Midview jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead and then held on for a 21-13 victory at home agianst Elyria Catholic High School in Week 3 of the 2023 season. Michael Passerrello Jr. led the offense with 14 carries for 111 yards and a TD, whiled Wyatt Lehman had 13 total tackles to pace the defense.

2023 Records: Midview finished 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the Southwestern Conference, while Elyria Catholic went 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the Great Lakes Conference. The Middies lost 49-7 at Highland High School in the first round of the OHSAA Division II Playoffs.

Midview's Last Game: Midview defeated visiting North Olmsted High School 14-0. Senior Dior Jones scored on a 69-yard punt return in the third quarter and senior Cameron West added a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Junior Brayden Homoki led the defense with 19 total tackles.[Recap].

Elyria Catholic's Last Game: Elyria Catholic raced out to a 26-0 lead only for visiting Mayfield High School to rally for a 32-26 win.

Midview Head Coach: Head Coach Jack Armstrong is now 6-7 in his second season leading the Middies. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education Coordinator at his alma mater and has served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the previous seven seasons before taking over. He is the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.

Elyria Catholic Head Coach: Head Coach Chase Farris is 3-9 in his second year leading the Panthers.

Midview Stat Leaders: Junior quarterback Shay Williams has completed 9-of-17 (52.9%) passes and thrown for 112 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. He also has 27 carries for 91 yards. Junior Marcus McMahon has 18 carries for 91 yards and 1 TD, junior Michael Passerrello Jr. has 10 carries for 51 yards and 1 TD, while senior Cameron West has 6 carries for 84 yards and 2 TD. Senior Dior Jones leads the receving corps with 4 catches for 79 yards. Junior Brayden Homoki leads the team with 35 total tackles, while senior Wyatt Lehman has added 23 total tackles.

Returning Lettermen: Midview returned 17 letterwinners frotm year ago, including All-SWC first team junior running back/defensive back Michael Passerrello Jr.
