North Ridgeville retakes rivalry trophy with 38-20 victory over Midview Football
Midview Varsity Footbal battled rival North Ridgeville High School for four quarters but left with a 38-20 loss on Friday (October 4) evening.
The Middies (4-3, 1-3 SWC) found themselves down 14-0 after the first quarter following a pair of Ranger (6-1, 3-1 SWC) TD runs. Senior Dior Jones pulled Midview within a score by returning a punt back for a 55-yard score. Senior Ethan Morris added the extra point. North Ridgeville regained the momentum with a 31-yard field goal as the half ended and headed to the locker room on top 17-7.
The Rangers added two more TDs in the third quarter before junior Marcus McMahon scored his first of two 1-yard TD runs. Morris added the extra point after the first score and the two-point conversion failed after the second. North Ridgeville added another TD in the final quarter en route to the 18-point victory.
Senior Cody Martin completed 14-of-27 passes and threw for 151 yards while also running for a team-high 32 yards in relief. Senior Cross Wervey led the receiving corps with 7 catches for 68 yards.
Midview returns home to host first place Avon High School in a Senior Night match-up on Friday (October 11) evening. Senior Night festivities will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.
