Midview Varsity Football began its 2025 season with a 48-14 non-conference road win at Westlake High School Friday (August 22) night.

The Middies came in with a run-focused approach and it worked to perfection. Senior Marcus McMahon opened the scoring with a one-yard TD run on Midview's second possession. The Demons answered with a three-yard TD pass to tie the game. Senior Shay Williams broke the tie with a 28-yard TD pass to junior Brennen Newton on a fourth-and-20 and the Middies lead 14-7 after the first quarter.

Midview extended its lead to 21-7 after McMahon took the first play of his squad's next possession and scampered 65 yards for the score. Westlake inched closer with an 11-yard TD pass, only for Williams to add a two-yard TD run and McMahon to contribute a six-yard TD run, giving the Middies a 35-14 lead at the half.

Wiliams found senior Zachary Wallace for a 30-yard TD pass midway through the third frame. McMahon capped the scoring and triggered the running clock with his fourth TD run of the game, this one from two yards with 4:33 to play in the third. Senior Kaiden Vonya finished 6-of-7 on extra point attempts in the win.

McMahon finished with 24 carries for 257 yards and 4 TDs. Williams completed 6-of-10 passes for 121 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively, senior Braden Armold collected a team-high 10 total tackles, while sophomore Ian Regan had an interception and senior Brayden Homoki blocked a punt in the win.
