Midview Football falls to Avon 49-10
Midview Varsity Football closed out the home portion of its 2024 season with a 49-10 loss to visiting Avon High School Friday (October 11) evening on Ross Field at Adelsberg Stadium. Prior to kickoff 65 seniors and their parents representing Football, Marching Band, Cross County, Golf, Girls Tennis, Cheerleading and JROTC were honored for their dedication to Midview these last four years.
The Middies (4-4, 1-4 SWC) scored their lone touchdown on a 50-yard strike between senior quarterback Cody Martin and senior wideout Dior Jones late in the first quarter. Midview then added a 45-yard field goal off the foot of senior Ethan Morris in the fourth quarter. Avon (8-0, 5-0 SWC) scored 14 points in the first quarter, 21 in the second quarter and 14 more in the third quarter.
Martin completed 6-of-9 passes for 128 yards and a TD. Junior Marcus McMahon had a team-best 9 yards on the ground, while Jones had 4 receptions for 117 yards.
Midview hits the road in Week 9 for a match-up with rival Elyria High School on October 18. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
