Midview to Host Olmsted Falls in Week 10 Senior Night Match-up

Who: Midview High School (4-5, 2-4 SWC) and Olmsted Falls High School (6-3, 3-3 SWC)

What: Week 10 OHSAA Division II Region 6 Southwestern Conference Varsity Football Game

Where: Ross Field at Adeslberg Stadium (38199 Capel Road, Grafton, OH 44044)

When: Kickoff is Friday (October 20) at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets: All Tickets are General Admission and $8. Everyone Kindergarten age to 59 years of age must have a ticket in order to enter. Senior Citizens (60+) are also now admitted free regardless of where they live. Presale Tickets are available here: https://midview.hometownticketing.com/embed/all A credit card reader will also be available at both the Pass Gate and the Middle School entrance for walk-up tickets. Cash Sales exclusively at the Pass Gate. In addition, Midview Local School and Olmsted Falls High School employee IDs and SWC passes will be accepted.

Specator Note: All kids in attendance will be expected to sit in the stands with their parents or in the assigned student sections. Spectators are prohibited from bringing sporting equipment (footballs, basketballs, etc.) inside Adelsberg Stadium during Varsity Football Games. They will be turned away at the gate. Alcohol and Smoking are also prohibited on the campus of Midview Local Schools.

Special Events: Week 10 is Senior Night for Midview. We will recognize approximately 50 student-athletes (Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Boys Golf and Girls Golf) and marching band members. The ceremony will begin at 6:35 p.m. Approved senior escorts will be admitted free via a pass list.

Halftime Performance: The Olmsted Falls Marching Band will perform first, followed by the Midview High School Marching Blue.

Concessions: The Midview Band Boosters will once again sponsor all concessions during Midview Varsity Football home games.

Last Meeting: Olmsted Falls defeated visiting Midview 47-10 in Week 4 of the 2022 season on September 9. Marc Reed completed 16-of-28 passes for 116 yards. Mason Kucera had 10 catches for 66 yards and Cameron West had 3 carries for 78 yards, including a 75-yard TD. Austin Dye led the defense with 8 total stops.

2022 Records: Midview finished 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the Southwestern Conference, while Olmsted Falls went 10-3 overall and 6-1 in the league play. The Bulldogs qualified for the OHSAA Division II playoffs where they defeated St. John Jesuit High School 56-35 in round 1 and Anthony Wayne High School 28-10 in round 2 before falling to Avon High School 45-7 in the Regional semifinals.

New Era: Head Coach Jack Armstrong takes the reins of Midview Football in 2023-24. He was promoted to Head Coach on May 31. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education teacher at his alma mater and has served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the last seven seasons. He becomes the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.

Midview's Last Game: The Middies earned a 35-28 Homecoming victory over Elyria HIgh School. Senior Ethan Elbert completed 11-of-20 passes for 206 yards and 3 TDs, while running 14 times for 83 yards and another TD. Senior Hunter Anderson added 14 carries for 53 yards and a TD, while senior Dane West caught 5 passes for 126 yards and 2 TDss. Junior Wyatt Lehman paced the defense with 15 total tackles, while sophomore Brayden Homoki added 12 stops, including 2 tackles for loss.

Olmsted Falls' Last Game: The Bulldogs dropped the Battle of Bagely to host Berea-Midpark High School 35-21.

Midview Stat Leaders: Senior quarterback Ethan Elbert has completed 96-of-188 (51.6%) passes and thrown for 1,551 yards and 12 TDs and 8 INTs. He also has 105 carries for 398 yards and 5 more TDs. Sophomore Michael Passerrello Jr. has added 51 carries for 178 yards and 2 TDs and senior Hunter Anderson has 57 carries for 173 yards and 1 TD on the ground. Midview's top three receivers are junior Cameron West (20 receptions for 247 yards and 1 TD), senior Dane West (26 receptions for 444 yards and 4 TDs) and junior Dior Jones (24 receptions for 600 yards and 6 TDs). Junior Wyatt Lehman has a team-high 88 total tackles, while senior Connor Rose has added 78 total tackles and senior Gabe Borror has 73 stops.

SWC Standings: Midview sits in sixth place and Olmsted Falls is tied for fourth in the current SWC Football Standings.

Push for the Playoffs: Midview is currently ranked 11th and Olmsted Falls is 6th in the OHSAA Division II Region 6 rankings on Joe Eitel's webpage. The Bulldogs have already clinched a playoff spot, while the Middies are projected to qualify for the playoffs regardless of the outcome of this final regular season game. Drew Pasteur's Fantastic 50 predicts that Midview is already in the playoffs.
