Midview Football to host Elyria on Homecoming
Who: Midview High School (3-5, 1-4 SWC) and Elyria High School (1-7, 1-4 SWC)
What: Week 9 OHSAA Division II Region 6 and Division I Region 1 Southwestern Conference Varsity Football Game
Where: Ross Field at Adeslberg Stadium (38199 Capel Road, Grafton, OH 44044)
When: Kickoff is Friday (October 13) at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets: All Tickets are General Admission and $8. Everyone Kindergarten age to 59 years of age must have a ticket in order to enter. Senior Citizens (60+) are also now admitted free regardless of where they live. Presale Tickets are available here: https://midview.hometownticketing.com/embed/all A credit card reader will also be available at both the Pass Gate and the Middle School entrance for walk-up tickets. Cash Sales exclusively at the Pass Gate. In addition, Midview Local School and Elyria High School employee IDs and SWC passes will be accepted.
Specator Note: All kids in attendance will be expected to sit in the stands with their parents or in the assigned student sections. Spectators are prohibited from bringing sporting equipment (footballs, basketballs, etc.) inside Adelsberg Stadium during Varsity Football Games. They will be turned away at the gate. Alcohol and Smoking are also prohibited on the campus of Midview Local Schools.
Special Events: Week 9 is Homecoming for Midview. The ceremony will begin at 6:35 p.m.
Halftime Performance: The Elyria Marching Band will perform first, followed by the Midview High School Marching Blue.
Concessions: The Midview Band Boosters will once again sponsor all concessions during Midview Varsity Football home games.
Last Meeting: Elyria defeated Midview 41-3 in Week 10 of the 2022 season. Hunter Anderson ran 22 times for 96 yards. The Pioneers had two 100-yard rushers in Jaden Gilbert (4 carries for 114 yards and 2 TDs) and Lance Glover (11 carries for 120 yards and a TD), while also scoring on a pair of pick-sixes in the win.
2022 Records: Midview finished 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the Southwestern Conference, while Elyria went 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the league play. The Pioneers qualified for the OHSAA Division I playoffs and fell to Wadsworth High School 44-13 in the first round.
New Era: Head Coach Jack Armstrong takes the reins of Midview Football in 2023-24. He was promoted to Head Coach on May 31. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education teacher at his alma mater and has served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the last seven seasons. He becomes the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.
Midview's Last Game: The Middies suffered a 45-7 loss at undefeated Avon High School.
Elyria's Last Game: The Pioneers topped Amherst Steele High School 46-41.
Midview Stat Leaders: Senior quarterback Ethan Elbert has completed 85-of-172 (49.4%) passes and thrown for 1,324 yards and 9 TDs and 7 INTs. He also has 88 carries for 304 yards and 4 more TDs. Sophomore Michael Passerrello Jr. has added 46 carries for 183 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. Midview's top three receivers are junior Cameron West (18 receptions for 224 yards and 1 TD), senior Dane West (22 receptions for 317 yards and 2 TDs) and junior Dior Jones (20 receptions for 544 yards and 5 TDs). Junior Wyatt Lehman has a team-high 73 total tackles, while senior Connor Rose has added 67 total tackles and senior Gabe Borror has 62 stops.
Push for the Playoffs: Midview is currently ranked 13th in the OHSAA Division II Region 6 rankings. The Middies are projected to qualify for the playoffs regardless of the outcome of the last 2 games.
