Midview visits Berea-Midpark in Week 6
Who: Midview High School (2-3, 0-2 SWC) and Berea-Midpark High School (2-3, 1-1 SWC)
What: Week 6 Southwestern Conference Varsity Football Game
Where: Tressel Field at George Finnie Stadium (141 E Bagley Rd, Berea, OH 44017)
When: Kickoff is Friday (September 22) at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
Tickets: All Tickets are General Admission and $8. Everyone Kindergarten age to 59 years of age must have a ticket in order to enter. Senior Citizens (60+) are also now admitted free regardless of where they live. Presale Tickets are available here: https://berea.hometownticketing.com/embed/event/630 A credit card reader will also be available at the Pass Gate for walk-up tickets. No cash sales this week. In addition, Midview Local School and Berea-Midpark High School employee IDs and SWC passes will be accepted.
Specator Note: Spectators are not allowed to bring backpacks, large purses or large bags inside Finnie Stadium.
Halftime Performance: The Midview High School Marching Blue will perform first followed by the Berea-Midpark Marching Band.
Last Meeting: Berea-Midpark earned a 38-21 victory over host Midview on Homecoming in Week 6 of the 2022 season.
2022 Records: Midview finished 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the Southwestern Conference, while the Titans finished 5-6 overall and 4-3 in league play. Berea-Midpark fell to Massillon Jackson 28-24 in round one of the OHSAA Division I playoffs.
New Era: Head Coach Jack Armstrong takes the reins of Midview Football in 2023-24. He was promoted to Head Coach on May 31. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education teacher at his alma mater and has served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the last seven seasons. He becomes the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.
Midview's Last Game: The Middies fell 48-7 to visiting Avon Lake High School in Week 5. Senior Ethan Elbert completed 7-of-15 passing attempts for 50 yards while running 12 times for 34 yards in the loss. Junior Dior Jones had 3 catches for 60 yards and 1 TD. Senior Hunter Anderson paced the defense with 11 total tackles.
Berea-Midpark's Last Game: The Titans won 53-0 at Amherst Steele High School in Week 5.
Midview Stat Leaders: Senior quarterback Ethan Elbert has completed 60-of-110 (54.5%) passes and thrown for 951 yards and 7 TDs and 6 INTs. He also has 68 carries for 220 yards and 3 more TDs. Sophomore Michael Passerrello Jr. has added 32 carries for 160 yards and a TD on the ground. Midview's top three receivers are junior Cameron West (15 receptions for 195 yards and 1 TD), senior Dane West (14 receptions for 171 yards and 1 TD) and junior Dior Jones (14 receptions for 425 yards and 4 TDs). Junior Wyatt Lehman has a team-high 44 total tackles.
