Midview Welcomes Elyria Catholic for Home Opener in Week 3

Who: Midview High School (1-1) and Elyria Catholic High School (0-2)

What: Week 3 OHSAA Non-Conference Varsity Football Game

Where: Ross Field at Adeslberg Stadium (38199 Capel Road, Grafton, OH 44044)

When: Kickoff is Friday (September 1) at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Tickets: All Tickets are General Admission and $8. Everyone Kindergarten age to 59 years of age must have a ticket in order to enter. Senior Citizens (60+) are also now admitted free regardless of where they live. Presale Tickets are available here: https://midview.hometownticketing.com/embed/all A credit card reader will also be available at both the Pass Gate and the Middle School entrance for walk-up tickets. No cash sales at the door. In addition, Midview Local School and Elyria Catholic School employee IDs and SWC passes will be accepted.

Specator Note: All kids in attendance will be expected to sit in the stands with their parents or in the assigned student sections. Spectators are prohibited from bringing sporting equipment (footballs, basketballs, etc.) inside Adelsberg Stadium during Varsity Football Games. They will be turned away at the gate. Alcohol and Smoking are also prohibited on the campus of Midview Local Schools.

Special Events: Midview's Home Opener is also Youth Football Night. Current Midview Youth Football (MYF) cheerleaders and players will be admitted free. There will be lists at the MS Entrance for them to check in and they are encouraged to wear their game jerseys. Contact Terry Powell of MYF for more details about the evening. Halftime Performance: The Elyria Catholic Marching Band will perform first, followed by the Midview High School Marching Blue.

Concessions: The Midview Band Boosters will once again sponsor all concessions during Midview Varsity Football home games.

Last Meeting: Elyria Catholic defeated visting Midview 35-14 in Week 3 of 2023. Then senior Levi Ellis led the Panthers with 19 rushes for 178 yards and 2 TDs in the win.

2022 Records: Midview finished 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the Southwestern Conference, while Elyria Catholic went 10-3 overall and 5-0 in the Great Lakes Conference. The Panthers advanced to round 3 of the OHSAA Division IV playoffs before falling to eventual State Champion Glenville 54-7.

New Era: Head Coach Jack Armstrong takes the reins of Midview Football in 2023-24. He was promoted to Head Coach on May 31. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education teacher at his alma mater and has served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the last seven seasons. He becomes the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.

Midview's Last Game: Midview earned a 23-6 road win at North Olmsted High School in Week 2. Sophomore Christopher Payne connected on field goals of 30, 25 and 20 yards. Senior quarterback Ethan Elbert completed 16-of-22 passes for 238 yards and 1 TD. Senior running back Hunter Anderson ran 11 times for 46 yards, while junior wideout Dane West had 5 receptions for 79 yards and a TD and junior Dior Jones added 3 catches for 99 yards and a TD. Defensively, senior Connor Rose paced the team with 11 total tackles, while Nathanial Shenberger had 2 sacks.

Elyria Catholic's Last Game: The Panthers fell on the road to Sandusky Perkins High School 62-19 in Week 2.
