Midview visits Westlake for 2023 Season Opener

Who: Midview High School and Westlake High School

What: Week 1 OHSAA Non-Conference Varsity Football Game

Where: UH St. John Medical Center Stadium (27830 Hilliard Blvd, Westlake, Ohio  44145)

When: Kickoff is Friday (August 18) at 7 p.m.

Tickets: Westlake will be offering two options for ticketing. They can be purchased online at https://gofan.co/app/school/OH2630A or they can be purchased at the gate with cash only. The Great LakesConference tickets prices are $8.00 General Admission (only option online) and $5.00 for Senior Citizens (60+). Children under 5 will be granted admission for free.

Haltime Performance: The Midview High School Marching Blue will perform first, followed by the Westlake High School Marching Band.

Last Meeting: Midview defeated Westlake 42-0 in Week 10 of the 2019 season. It was the Demons' final game as a member of the Southwestern Conference. Tyshawn Nelson '20 ran for 133 yards and 3 touchdowns on 16 carries in the victory.

2022 Records: Midview finished 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the Southwestern Conference, while Westlake went 5-6 overall and 1-4 in the Great Lakes Conference. The Demons fell to Avon High School 49-0 in the first round of the OHSAA Division II Playoffs.

Midview Debut: Head Coach Jack Armstrong will make his debut as the leader of Midview Football in Week 1. He was promoted to Head Coach on May 31. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education teacher at his alma mater and has served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the last seven seasons. He becomes the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.

Returning Lettermen: Midview anticipates the return of 10 letterwinners from a year ago, including All-SWC second team senior wide receiver Dane West.
