Midview Baseball defeats Berea-Midpark 4-3 for Coach Feierabend's first career win

Midview Varsity Baseball earned a hard-fought, 4-3 Southwestern Conference victory over host Berea-Midpark High School on Monday (April 6) evening. The Middies improved to 1-1 overall and in league play while also giving first-year Head Coach Ryan Feierabend his first career interscholastic coaching win.

Midview jumped ahead 2-0 in the top of the first. Junior Benjamin Szczepanski reached on an error to lead off and crossed the plate on a RBI single from freshman Kellen DeSimone. DeSimone later scored on a wild pitch. The Titans plated three runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead. The Middies, however, tied the game in the top of the third when senior Kaiden Vogelpohl led off with a double and then scored on a line drive single by junior Jake Ellis. Junior Luke Jockel broke the 3-3 deadlock when he raced home on a wild pitch with two outs in the top of the sixth.

Ellis and Vogelpohl both finished 2-for-3 as Midview out-hit Berea-Midpark 7-4.

Senior Damien Presser earned the win in relief after striking out six while scattering one hit and five walks over three innings. Starter Jockel allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits over the first two innings. He walked two and struck out two. DeSimone notched the save with two scoreless frames. He allowed one walk and fanned two.

The Middies and Titans have already postponed their second match-up due to the forecast on Tuesday (April 7) afternoon. They will now play on Thursday (April 9) with the first pitch at Kennedy Field inside the Brook Park Recreation complex at 4:45 p.m.
