Middie Baseball walks off Elyria on Senior Day

Midview Varsity Baseball celebrated 2025 Senior Day with a 3-2, extra-inning walk-off victory at home against Elyria High School on Thursday (May 8).

The Middies jumped out to a 2-0 advantage with single runs in the first and third frames. The Pioneers answered with a two-run fourth to level the game. It stayed that way until the bottom of the eighth. Senior Chase Harper reached on a one-out walk and advanced to second on a single by senior Henry Calcut. Harper broke for third base duriing the next at-bat and was able to race all of the way home on an error to seal the victory.

Calcut (2-3) earned the win on the mound with two innings of shutout relief in which he struck out two. Senior Cody Martin started and scattered two runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts in six innings of work.

Midview (6-11, 4-8 SWC) is back in action Monday (May 12) at Olmsted Falls High School. First pitch is at 4:45 p.m.
