Varsity Baseball tops Berea-Midpark 3-1
Midview Varsity Baseball earned a 3-1 Southwestern Conference victory over visiting Berea-Midpark High School on Monday (April 14) afternoon.
Senior Henry Calcut (1-1) earned the win after allowing one unearned run on one hit with seven strikeouts over five innings. Senior Cody Martin earned his first save with two scoreless and no-hit frames, highlighted by five strikeouts.
Midview trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the third before senior Camden Scott drove in sophomore Luke Jockel, who led off the frame with a double. Senior Jacob Armburger drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Senior Zachary Sprague scored after reaching on an error. Sophomore Benjamin Szczepanski began the fifth with a double and later scored on a RBI single by senior Chase Harper.
Scott, Szczespanski, and Jockel all had two hits in the win.
The Middies (2-6, 1-4 SWC) and Titans close out their series Tuesday (April 15) at Brook Park Rec's Kennedy Field. First pitch is slated for 4:45 p.m.
