Varsity Baseball drops opener at Amherst 7-3
Midview Varsity Baseball opened its 2025 season with a 7-3 Southwestern Congference loss to host Amherst Steele High School on Monday (March 31) afternoon.
The game was originally slated to be played at Midview but was moved to Amherst due to field availability. Both teams battled each other and the elements throughout the game. The Comets used a seven-run fourth inning to take control and then withstood a Middie rally to earn the victory.
Six different Midview hitters had a hit, including senior Daniel Melendez who had a RBI double. Senior starter Noah Munshower (0-1) allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits with three strikeouts in the loss. Sophomore Benjamin Szczepanski gave up one run on two hits with three strikeouts in relief over the final three innings.
The Middies (0-1, 0-1 SWC) look to bounce back against the Comets at home on Tuesday (April 1) at 4:45 p.m.
