Girls Tennis wraps up regular season league play with 4-1 loss to Avon Lake

Midview Varsity Girls Tennis wrapped up its Southwestern Conference regular season with a 4-1 loss to first place Avon Lake High School Tuesday (September 10) afternoon at the MHS Tennis Courts.

The marquee individual match-up of the entire SWC season came at first singles where Middie senior Katarina Yates knocked off Avon Lake senior Amber Korey 6-4, 6-3 to secure the top seed in the upcoming SWC Tournament (Sept. 14 & 17) at Avon High School. The victory improved Yates' record to 17-0 to begin the year.

The Middies (5-6, 3-4 SWC) are back in action Thursday (September 12) when they host Elyria Catholic High School at 4 p.m. It will be Senior Day for Yates, the lone senior, and a short ceremony will take place prior to the match at 3:50 p.m.
