Girls Tennis takes third at LCAAA Tournament

Midview Varsity Girls Tennis, fueled by a first place and two third place finishes, took third overall at the 2024 Lorain County Athletic Administrators Association (LCAAA) Tournament September 5 & 7 at Avon High School. [Results]

Senior Katarina Yates captured a title for the third straight season and improved to 15-0 on the year. Yates is now the back-to-back first singles champion and also won the first doubles title with her older sister Gabby in 2022. Yates topped Amherst Steele's Kayla Bussard 6-4, 6-0 in the finals.

Sohomore Jillian Hubbard placed third at second singles after defeating Avon in her final match and finishing 2-1 on the weekend. Junior Brynn Wuensch did the same at third singles, winning 6-3, 6-3 over Amherst in her final match.

Midview's first doubles tandem of sophomore Danica Hazzard and juinior Julianne Myers finished fifth and junior Morgan Piskunoff, sophomore Hailey Doyle-O'Dea and junior Madison Piskunoff (sub) combined to take fourth at second doubles.

The Middies are back in action Monday (September 9) with a home match against Vermilion High School at 4:30 p.m.
