Midview Athletics announced Wednesday (May 24) that Danielle Bias will be formally recommended to fill the vacant Head Girls Soccer position at the upcoming Midview Board of Education meeting.
"We look forward to welcoming Coach Danielle to the department and to Midview Girls Soccer," said Midview Athletics Director Dan May. "She brings high-level playing and youth coaching experience but also a commitment the development of our student-athletes physically, mentally and emotionally."
Bias, who replaces Emma Kovach as the leader of Midview Girls Soccer, has 15 years of experience at the recreation, travel and premier levels. Most recently she has been a part of Pro Soccer Club in Lagrange where she has focused on goalkeeping and club conditioning. This will be here first interscholastic coaching opportunity.
"I have been playing soccer as long as I can remember, starting out from rec and playing travel, premier, high school, college, and more," said Bias. "I have been a part of so many great teams and the privilege of experiencing the coaching of great players like Brad Friedel, Otto Orf, Hector Marinaro and many more. These experiences have given me the knowledge and the tools to work with children at a variety of skill levels and tailor my coaching approach to the unique needs of my squad."
Bias (née Klein) played both midfield and goalkeeper at Westlake High School and was a two-time All-Southwestern Conference honorable mention selection. The 2005 graduate continued her soccer career at Baldwin Wallace University and earned a degree in Biology and Neurosciences in 2009.
"I am extremely excited for this opportunity to be the Head Coach at Midview!" Bias said. "I am looking forward to developing the girl's program and hope to have a positive impact on not only the program but the girls as individuals and our community. Team sports are about more than just winning and losing, it's about building character and preparing these young women for their future. I want these girls to know the value of hard work, dedication and determination and give them the tools be a success both on and off the field."
Coach Bias knows the importance of interscholastic athletics.
"Being a coach is a huge responsibility, one that I don't take lightly, said Bias. "Parents are trusting me with their children. Children are trusting me to be there for them and develop them as players and young women. Our children are our future, and I am honored to play a role in shaping that future."
Bias' immediate goal for Midview Girls Soccer is to foster an environment and culture of positivity and teamwork. She wants the program to feel like a family where they can celebrate their successes and work to improve together!
"I want to create a program that helps give these young women the confidence to be leaders both on and off the field and take on any challenge they may face in their future, all while having fun and making friendships that can last a lifetime," said Bias.
Danielle, who lives in Grafton, is a Quality Assurance Manager at The Elco Corporation, a chemical manufacturing company in Cleveland.
Midview finished 8-7-3 overall and 1-4-2 in the Southwestern Conference in 2022.
"Long-Term I want to extend this culture all the way to our rec and travel programs and encourage more girls to enjoy the best sport there is!" said Bias. "Some of my best childhood memories were spent on or around the field, and I hope the girls will someday be able to look back on their high school experience and feel the same way."
