Midview Girls Soccer falls to Holy Name 2-1

Midview Varsity Girls Soccer came out on the short end of a 2-1 non-conference battle with Holy Name High School Monday (September 23) on Ross Field at Adelsberg Stadium.

Holy Name took a 1-0 advantage with a goal off a rebound with 27:02 left in the first half. They added to their lead with a goal off a cross 5 minutes later.

Midview's attack earned a free kick from 25-yards away with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Junior Riley Frei had her free kick hit the cross bar and deflect to a crashing teammate in freshman Hannah Bacskay, who calmly directed the ball in with her chest for the goal at the 1:48 mark. The Middies, however, could not get any closer and the visitors escaped with a 2-1 win.

Midview (2-11-1) visits Avon High School Wednesday (September 25) at 7 p.m. JV is at 5 p.m.
