Midview Girls Soccer defeats Valley Forge 4-0 on Senior Day
Midview Varsity Girls Soccer celebrated its two seniors and then routed visiting Valley Forge High School 4-0 Saturday (September 21) on Ross Field at Adelsberg Stadium.
Sophomore Evalynn Thompson opened the scoring when she lofted a loose ball over the keeper's head and into the goal from 33 yards away with 27:40 to play in the first half.
The Middies added another goal with 11:01 left in the opening half when pressure from senior Natalie Lowry resulted in a turnover and she quickly beat the keeper with an enusing shot.
Junior Rachael Anderson made it 3-0 when she scored off a cross from classmate Marissa McGhee with 28:06 remaining in the game.
Sophomore Cora Vance capped the scoring when she took a throw-in deep in her own territory and raced 90 yards with the ball. He initial shot was blocked but she calmly returned the rebound into the back of the net with 18:17 to play.
The Middies (2-10-1, 0-4 SWC) are back on the home turf Monday (September 23) when they play host to Holy Name High School at 7 p.m. The JV team will battle Padua Franciscan High School at 5 p.m.
