Girls Soccer rallies past Lakewood 2-1
Midview Varsity Girls Soccer earned a come-from-behind 2-1 road victory at Lakewood High School Saturday (September 7) evening.
The Rangers took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 19th minute. The Middies found the equalizer in the 65th minute when senior Rachael Anderson lofted a shot over the keeper from 30 yards out.
The game-winning goal came three minutes later due to Midview's offensive pressure. The Lakwood keeper tried to clear a ball deep in her own territory only for it to hit freshmen Madelyne Laux and deflect straight to junior teammate Marissa McGhee who scored into the open net from 10-yards away. Midview's defense held strong the rest of the way to seal the team's first win of the season.
The Middies (1-5-1) return to action Monday (September 9) when they travel to North Olmsted High School. The match-up will be a Dual in the School style event and begin with varsity at 1 p.m. JV will follow at 3 p.m.
