Morris takes fifth at OHSAA District Championship
Midview Varsity Boys Wrestling tied for 23rd place with 13 points at the 2026 OHSAA Division I Northwest District Tournament, which was hosted by Perrysburg High School March 6-7.
Senior Carrson Morris placed fifth in the 126 pound weight class to claim the district's state alternate spot and did so in dramatic fashion. Morris opened Friday with a pinfall win before dropping into the consolation bracket following a loss to Highland High School. He then rattled off a pair of wins to earn his way into the consolation semfinal. There, Morris fell to Brecksville Broadview Heights High School. However, he quickly bounced back and avenged his previous loss to Highland with a pair of takedowns in the final minute to win 12-11. The last came with just two seconds left in the match.
Sophomore Owen Costlow also earned the right to compete at the district level. The 132 pounder finished 0-2 in his first district appearance.
Morris will find out by Friday (March 13) morning during weigh-ins if he is able to extend the program's 10-year streak of having at least one OHSAA Division I state qualifier. He will only get into the tournament if one of the top 16 qualifiers can not compete and his name is then called.
