Geyer and Wirth become two-time regional qualifiers on final day of OHSAA DII District meet

Midview Varsity Track and Field senior Isabel Geyer and junior Jeffrey Wirth posted their second regional-qualifying performances of the OHSAA Division II District Championship, which concluded on Friday (May 22) at Amherst Steele High School.

Overall, the Middie boys finished 10th with 18 points, while the Middie girls placed 11th with 24.5 points at the 15-team, first round of the postseason meet. The top four individuals and relay teams move on to the OHSAA Division II Regional Championship May 27 and 29 at North Royalton High School.

Geyer finished runner-up in the Discus Throw with a top mark of 113-08. She qualified on Wednesday for the Shot Put. Wirth matched Geyer by adding Shot Put to his resume after making it in the Discus Throw Wednesday. Wirth placed third with a toss of 56-07.00.

Senior Samuel Estes capped off his career with a seventh place finish in the 300m Hurdles by crossing the line in 44.75 seconds. Juniors Ava Hamm (15-00.00) and Savannah Holcomb (14-10.00) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Long Jump. Junior Maya Nimer also earned team points by taking fifth in the Pole Vault after successfully clearing a personal best 8-08.00.

Junior Audrey Gerber, Hamm, junior Leah McKay and sophomore Hannah Bacskay were the Middies' top relay after placing fifth in the 4x100m Relay with a time of 51.28 seconds.
