Midview Track and Field finished 8th at SWC Championship
Midview Varsity Track and Field opened the postseason portion of its schedule with a pair of eighth place finishes at the Southwestern Conference, which concluded on Friday (May 15) on the campus of Amherst Steele High School. The Middie girls collected 42 points and the boys racked up 20 points at the meet, which was swept by Avon High School.
Junior Jeffrey Wirth was the top boy's placer as he took runner-up in the Discus Throw with a top mark of 158-08. Wirth added a fourth place finish in the Shot Put (48-09.00).
Junior Cora Vance posted the best girl's finish, a runner-up spot in the 400m Dash. Vance once again improved her own school record by crossing the line in 57.77. Vance also took third in the 200m Dash (25.63).
Senior Isabel Geyer contributed a third place finish and personal-best performance in both the Shot Put (39-03.00) and Discus Throw (112-05).
Also reaching the podium in individual eventers were junior Jillian Hubbard (7th / 100m Hurdles / 17.65) (7th / High Jump / 4-08.00), sophomore Hannah Bacskay (7th / 400m Dash / 59.59), junior Ava Hamm (8th / High Jump / 4-08.00), junior Maya Nimer (7th / Pole Vault / 8-0.00) and junior Blake Butts (6th / Discus Throw / 136-04),
The Girls 4x100m Relay, which featured junior Audrey Gerber, Hamm, junior Leah McKay and Bacskay, (4th / 51.20), the Girls 4x800m Relay, which included junior Madelyn Czellath, junior Alison Winslow, sophomore Molly Ockuly and sophomore Cadence Dellisanti (7th / 11:03.63), the Boys 4x100m Relay, which featured sophomore Nathan Sooy, senior Gage Weaver, senior Seth Gendics and junior Logan Edgell (8th / 44.49) and the Boys 4x400m Relay, which included Edgell, sophomore Joseph Jamison, freshman Joseph Snyder and senior Kaiden Vonya (7th / 3:44.24) also posted podium finishes.
The Middies return to action Wednesday (May 20) when they compete in day one of the OHSAA Division II District Championship back at Amherst Steele High School. Field events begin at 4 p.m. Running events start at 5:30 p.m.
