Midview Track competes against county's best at LCAAA Invitational

Midview Varsity Track and Field competed at the annual Lorain County Athletic Administrators Association (LCAAA) Invitational, which was hosted Friday (April 17) by Firelands High School. The girls placed seventh with 43 points, while the boys took 11th with 18 points at the 17-team event, which was won by Avon High School.

The top finish from the Middie girls came in the 4x100m Relay, when junior Ava Hamm, sophomore Hannah Bacskay, junior Leah McKay and sophomore Cora Vance took runner-up with a time of 50.45 seconds. Vance (25.66) and Bacskay (26.38) also posted top-five finishes in the 200m Dash by placing third and fifth, respectively. Hamm did the same with a fourth place performance of 4-08.00 in the High Jump.

Senior Isabel Geyer increased her personal best and took third with a throw of 37-10.50 in the Shot Put. Geyer also took fourth in the Discus Throw with a new personal best toss of 111-11. Junior Jeffrey Wirth was the lone boy to place in the top five. He did so twice by finishing third in the Shot Put with a throw of 56-02.50 and taking fourth in the Discus Throw with a personal best toss of 160-07.

Note: The 4x400m Relays were both canceled after a nearby accident caused the power to go out in the stadium.

Midview returns home to host Avon Lake High School on Senior Day Wednesday (April 22) at 4:30 p.m. The Middies will recognize their 11 seniors in a quick ceremony at 4:15 p.m.
