Midview Boys take fourth and Girls place fifth at Bell Track Invitational
Midview Varsity Track and Field competed at the Bell Invitational, hosted by Rocky River High School, on Friday (May 9) evening. The Middie boys placed fourth (91 points) and the girls took fifth (65.6 points) at the eight-team event, which featured a maximum of three participants and one relay per school.
The boys had eight top-three finishers at the event. Seniors Logan Bier (15.77) and Nolan Roth (15.78) finished second and third, respectively, in the 110m Hurdles. Bier also placed third in the 300m Hurdles (43.12) and third in the High Jump (5-10). Junior Gage Weaver, freshman Andrew Morris, sophomore Logan Edgell and junior Kaiden Vonya took third with a personal record in the 4x200m Relay (1:32.15). Weaver, Roth, Morris and Edgel took third in the 4x100m Relay (44.90). Edgell, Bier, Roth and senior Gage Baribeau placed third in the 4x400m Relay (3:34.50). Sophomore Jeffrey Wirth finished second in the Discus (141-1).
Midview's girls had six student-athletes earn a top-three performance. The 4x100m Relay, which featured sophomore Ava Hamm, sophomore Leah McKay, freshman Hannah Bacskay and sophomore Cora Vance, won its race in meet record 50.23 seconds. Vance (26.66) earned first place and Bacskay (26.88) took runner-up the 100m Dash. The 4x400m Relay, which included McKay, Bacskay, freshman Leila Morgan and Vance, finished third (4:12.42). Hamm placed second in the High Jump (4-10) and third in the Long Jump (16-0.5).
Midview now sets its sights on the Southwestern Conference Championship, which will begin Wednesday (May 14) and take place at Avon's Early Learning Center.
