Midview Boys place fourth and Girls sixth at home Shipwreck
Midview Varsity Track and Field hosted the sixth edition of the twelve-team Shipwreck Invitational Friday (April 11) inside Adelsberg Stadium.
Two-time Shipwreck Most Valuable Player Olivia Hudson led Oberlin High School to the girls title with 108 points. Padua Franciscan High School was the closest competitor with 96.5 points.
The boys competition came down to the 4x400m Relay, as Buckeye High School and Keystone High School entered the event tied atop the leaderboard. The Bucks held off the Wildcats for first place in the race to secure the overall championship with 137 points. Keystone finished with 135 points. Buckeye's Dion Sams was named the MVP on the boys side.
Midview Boys had six top-three finishes at the event.
Seniors Nolan Roth (15.80) and Logan Bier (16.23) finished second and third, respectively, in the 110m Hurdles.
Sophomore Gage Weaver, freshman Ian Regan, sophomore Logan Edgell and junior Marcus McMahon combined to finish runner-up in 4x200m Relay with a time of 1:36.55.
Weaver, Roth, Regan and Edgell took third in the 4x100m Relay with a time of 45.13 seconds.
Junior Lukas Kowalski cleared 12-6 to finish runner-up in the Pole Vault.
Sophomore Blake Butts finished second in the Discus with a toss of 129-4.
Senior Makai Massey took third in the Shot Put with a mark of 39-1.
The Middie Girls posted seven top-three finishes on Friday.
Sophomore Cora Vance took third in the 400m Dash after crossing the line in 1:01.87.
Sophomore Molly Ockuly placed runner-up in the 800m Dash with a time of 2:41.80.
The 4x200m Relay, which consisted of sophomores Savannah Holcomb and Leah McKay, freshman Hannah Bacskay and Vance, placed third in the 4x200m Relay with a time of 1:51.43.
The 4x800m, which featured freshmen Cadence Dellisanti, Leila Morgan and Ockuly and sophomore Madelyn Czellath, won with a time of 11:07.58.
Senior Mkennzie Bennett placed third in the Pole Vault after clearing 8-0.
Junior Isabel Geyer took third in the Discus with a mark of 95-8. Geyer also placed third in the Shot Put with a toss of 32-4.75.
Midview is back on the track Monday (April 14) with a Southwestern Conference dual at Elyria High School. Action begins at 4:30 p.m.
