Track and Field opens 2025 season at John Sanders Invitational
Midview Varsity Boys and Girls Track and Field began the 2025 campaign with a solid performance at the John Sanders Early Season Invitational, which took place Saturday (March 29) on the campus of Olmsted Falls High School. The Middie boys placed third with 95 points, and the girls took fifth with at the eight-team event.
Midview had a pair of champions, three runner-up placements and five third place finishes on the day. Junior Lukas Kowalski cleared 10-0 to win the Boys Pole Vault, and senior Mkennzie Bennett cleared 8-0 to win the Girls Pole Vault. Freshman Molly Ockuly, freshman Hannah Bacskay, sophomore Cora Vance and freshman Cadence Dellisanti also won the 4x400m Relay with a time of 4:25.99.
Senior Logan Bier finished runner-up in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 41.38 seconds.
Junior Gage Weaver, freshmen Andrew Morris, sophomore Logan Edgell and junior Kaiden Vonya placed second in the 4x200m Relay after crossing the line in 1:33.65. Morris, senior Sigurd Hansen, Vonya and Bier finished runner-up in the 4x400m Relay with a combined time of 3:38.45.
Weaver, senior Nolan Roth, Morris and Edgell also took third in the 4x100m Relay with a time of 44.72 seconds. Junior Jillian Hubbard finished third in the Girls High Jump with a leap of 5-0. Sophomore Blake Butts took third with the Boys Discus with a throw of 134-7. Sophomore Ava Hamm placed third in the Girls Long Jump with a distance of 15-9. Sophomore Cora Vance was third in the 100m Dash with a time of 13.03 seconds and third in the 200m Dash with a time of 27.14 seconds.
The Middies are back in action Thursday (April 4) when they play host to Buckeye High School, North Ridgeville High School and Olmsted Falls High School in the second annual Midview Mixed Meet. Action begins at 4:30 p.m. Tickets will be required for the event. They are $8 for adults and $5 for student (K-12). Senior citizens (60+) will be admitted free of charge.
