Midview to send a record number of qualifiers to the OHSAA Regional Track and Field Championship

What: OHSAA Division I Boys and Girls Track & Field Regional Championship

Who: Midview and the other Top 4 Individuals and Relays from the Amherst, Brunswick, Findlay and St. Francis DeSales Districts.

When: Wednesday (May 24) and Friday (May 26). Field Events begin at 4 p.m. Running Events start at 5:30 p.m.

Where: Amherst Steele High School (450 Washington St, Amherst, OH 44001)

Midview Qualifiers: The Middies have a school-record 8 individual and 2 relay qualifiers from the 2023 Amherst District Championship. Seniors Alexis Weber and Ryan Runser each won a pair of District titles in both the High Jump and Long Jump. Owen Bier also qualified in both the 110m Hurdles (Fourth Place) and 300m Hurdles (Third Place). Senior Steven Allen advanced in the 400m Dash (Third Place). Junior Jared Robinson moved on in the 1600m Run (Fourth Place). Junior Dane West, senior Cullen McLaughlin, senior Mason Kucera and sophomore Jailen McNair qualified in both the 4x100m Relay (Third Place) and 4x200m Relay (Fourth Place).

District History Part 1: Midview set a new record with four District Champions. Senior Alexis Weber won the High Jump (5-6) for a third straight year and also the Long Jump (18-7.25). Senior Ryan Runser also won the High Jump (6-3) and Long Jump (22-3) in his first season of high school track and field. The previous Midview record was two champions.

District History Part 2: Midview's boys team finished with 65 points to place fifth overall at the District Championship. It was their best finish this century!

Discus Parking: Please note, the Discus competition is close to our Nord Middle School. However, the Nord Parking lot does not clear out until 4 p.m. Please park in the Stadium parking lot. [Parking Map] Spectators can walk behind the back of the High School, past the tennis courts to reach the Discus competition.

Tickets: Tickets are sold exclusively online at http://ohsaa.org/tickets [Track and Field --> Division I --> Steele] Adult tickets are $10 and students (K-12) are $8. No Cash or Credit Card sales at the door.

What's at Stake: 4 individuals and 4 relay teams from each event AND the next TOP 2 times/heights/distances from around the STATE will advance to the OHSAA Division I Championship June 2 and 3 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University.
