Midview Softball sweeps doubleheader from visting Avon Lake

Midview Varsity Softball won a pair of Southwestern Conference games against visiting Avon Lake High School on Monday (April 20) evening. The Middies won game one 21-2 and then took game two 13-3.

Midview collected 20 hits in the opener. Junior Dezirae Thomas and senior Nina Ballachino both finished 4-for-5 with four RBI, while junior Savannah Presser and sophomore Jillian Vandersluis both went 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Junior Savannah Holcomb (6-2) earned the win in game one. She scattered two runs on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts over five innings in game one. Holcomb then threw two perfect frames of relief and struck out three in the night cap. Vandersluis allowed three runs on two hits, walked three and fanned seven over the first three innings to earn the victory in game two.

Thomas once again was the offensie catalyst with a 2-for-3 performance out of the leadoff spot. Senior Olivia Keenan and junior Mallory Hechko both added two hits each in thw second game.

The Middies (10-4, 5-2 SWC) are back home Tuesday (April 21) when Olmsted Falls High School visits for a make-up game at 4:45 p.m.
