Midview Softball shuts out Berea-Midpark 5-0

Midview Varsity Softball kicked off its Southwestern Conference slate with an impressive 5-0 win over host Berea-Midpark High School on Monday (April 6) at the Roehm Athletic Complex.

Junior Savannah Holcomb (3-0) pitched the complete-game shutout by scattering five hits without a walk and striking out eight.

Junior Dezirae Thomas opened the game with a double. She then scored on an error, the first of three costly miscues for the Titans on the day. Freshman Hailey Dye reached on an error and scored on a groundout by sophomore Brooke Cleary in the fourth. Junior Savannah Presser walked and scored on another groundout by sophomore Jillian Vandersluis in the fifth. In the sixth, Thomas hit a one-out triple. She then scored on a sac fly by senior Nina Ballachino. Holcomb cappped the scoring moments later when she crossed the plate on an error.

The Middies (3-2, 1-0 SWC) visit rival North Ridgeville High School on Wednesday (April 8) at 4:45 p.m.
