Avon rallies past Softball in extra innings

Midview Varsity Softball let an early six-run lead slip away late and then dropped a 13-10 Southwestern Conference match-up against visiting Avon High School Thursday (May 8) in eight innings.

The match-up actually began on April 7 but was suspended just three batters into the game due to rain.

Sophomore Savannah Holcomb led the offense with a 4-for-5 and 3 RBI performance. Junior Nina Ballachino added a pair of hits and RBI in the loss.

Freshman Jillian Vandersluis (1-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on two its over the final 2 1/3 innings. 

The Middies (7-9, 6-8 SWC) visit Chardon High School for their final OHSAA Tournament tune-up on Tuesday (May 13) at 5 p.m.
