Hubbard advances past day one of OHSAA Sectional Boys Tennis Tournament

Midview senior Boys Tennis player Nicholas Hubbard won both of his singles matches during the opening day of the OHSAA Division I Sectional Tournament Monday (May 12) at Medina High School.

Hubbard opened with a 6-1, 7-5 win over St. Edward High School's Ted Alton. He then outlasted Highland High School's Sawyer Sulzener 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 10-8. He will play top-seeded Xander Jhaveri from Westlake High School in the Sectional Quarterfinal on Wednesday (May 14) at Magnificat High School. Action begins at 3:30 p.m.

Midview's first doubles tadem of senior Brett Sanzone and sophomore Ryan Quinn rallied to win their opening match 2-6, 7-6, 10-5 over Elyria High School. Their season, however, ended with a loss to Berea-Midpark High School in the next roud.

Sophomore Lila Booth and junior Evan Kneisel both dropped their opening singles match, while junior Trenton Popek and sophomore Gavin Tribby lost their first round doubles match.
