Boys Basketball upsets Avon 78-75 in OT

Midview Varsity Boys Basketball earned a hard-fought, 78-75 overtime victory against visting Southwestern Conference foe Avon High School on Friday (January 10) evening inside Kubuski Gymnasium.

The win was straight fifth time the Middies (2-9, 1-4 SWC) have defeated the Eagles on their home court.

Senior Brayden Newton had a team-high 26 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Xavier Young made the most of his first varsity start by contributing 18 points. Sophomore Luke Jockel added 10 points, including a pair of free throws with no time left on the clock to send the game into overtime.

The Middies return to action Tuesday (January 14) with a trip to Elyria High School. Tip-off is a 7 p.m.
