Brett Boron had incredible plays, games, and a season on the gridiron that Middie fans still talk about. He was a key component of what some consider the greatest Midview team to ever take the field. And his talents as a running back rank him as one of the best to ever play that position at Midview.

Boron played part time during the 1998 regular season, when the Middies put together a 9-1 season that earned them a first ever trip to the playoffs. The post-season opened with a trip to Revere, and when an injury to another back pressed Brett into full-time service, he ran his way into Middie legendary status. Boron electrified the huge Middie crowd with an 89 yard gallop to the end zone that still ranks as one of the great Midview runs of all time. He broke numerous tackles, exploding down the left sideline to pay dirt. He then scored the game winning touchdown from three yards out in the waning seconds of the contest. After that heart-stopping 27-21 win, Midview advanced to play Mayfield, and though they fell in that contest, Boron had Midview fans roaring again with an 84 yard kickoff return for a score.

The ’99 Midview team was an absolute machine, destroying opponents weekly in rolling to a perfect 10-0 regular season. It was capped off in a week 10 performance at Wellington that was one for the record books for Brett. In a 56-0 drubbing of the Dukes, he had a game for the ages, racking up 324 yards on just 13 carries, a Midview record, and the 5th highest rushing game in Lorain County history. While the magical season ended a week later in a 42-35 loss to Wadsworth in an epic playoff game, Boron had compiled some final numbers that stand the test of time. He led Lorain County with 22 touchdowns, and ran for 1,272 yards, averaging 13.2 yards per carry. He was the Plain Dealer Offensive Player of the Year, 1st-Team All District and Special Mention All State.
