March Athletics Recap
Below is a quick recap of Midview Athletics for March 2024.
Midview as well as other athletic departments across the country celebrated National Athletic Trainers Month. We appreciate everything Nick Perez from the Cleveland Clinic does for our student-athletes. [Story]
Senior Wrestlers Hunter Anderson (150) and Austin Dye (285) competed at the OHSAA Division I State Tournament. Dye, who became Midview's first three-time qualifier, earned All-Ohio honors (8th Place) for a second straight season.
Sophomore Boys Bowler Aiden Salkiewicz finished 51st at the OHSAA Division I State Tournament. He is the first Middie in program history to qualify for the event.
Sophomore Cameron Hostacky and freshmen Savannah Holcomb, Leah MacKay and Cora Vance teamed up in the Girls 4x200m Relay and finished 21st at both the Ohio Indoor State Championship March 1 and then the Adidas Indoor Nationals March 15 in Virginia Beach, Va.
Senior Boys Basketball player David Moore earned Division I All-Ohio honorable mention in 2023-24
Sophomore Girls Basketball player Leah DiFranco earned Division I All-Ohio honorable mention in 2023-24.
Girls Basketball Head Coach Brittney McNamara was recently named one of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 honorees for the 2023-24 season. She is the only high school coach to be recognized. [Release]
Thirteen sophomore student-athletes and four coaches represented Midview Athletics at the third annual Lorain County Athletic Administrators Association (LCAAA) Female Leadership Conference, which took place March 20 at Hoop Tech in North Ridgeville. The Middies spent the day interacting with fellow Lorain County student-athletes and listening to empowering messages from an array of local speakers.
Alumni Updates
Trevor Begin '18 also qualfied for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship as a member of the Mercyhurst squad. The 197 pounder went 0-2 at the event in Whichita, Ks.
Daniel Bucknavich '20 represented Cleveland State University at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship March March 21-23 in Kansas City, Mo. The Heavyweight was seeded 20th and finished 1-2 at the event.
Mary Meng '23 and her Michigan State University Women's Basketball qualified for the NCAA Division I Tournament in 2023-24. Meng, who averaged 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds and 8.6 minutes over 9 games, has been out with an injury since December but is just the fourth known Lorain County female player to make the Division I Tournament since 1990 according to Jim Allen of WOBL Radio.
Anthony Stacey '95 guided Toledo Whitmer Boys Basketball to the OHSAA Division I State Final Four in 2023-24.
Eric Lauer '13 recently signed a minor league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The left-handed pitcher is hoping to bounce back from an injury-riddled season with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023.
Ryan Feierabend '03 has returned to professional baseball as a Pitching Coach with the Miami Marlins. He is currently assigned to the in the Dominican Summer League.

Youth Updates
Registration is now open for the 2024 Midview Youth Football and Cheerleading. [Story]
Midview Track and Field is hosting a 4-day camp for students in grades 5 and 6 in April. [Story]
Midview Football is hosting a free Alumni Skills Clinic April 21 for Middies in Graded 6-8. [Story]
